我最喜欢的故事英文作文 篇1
I love reading and I have lots of story books. And my favourite story is “The Wolves are coming”, because the story is very interesting and thought-provoking.
It tells us a story about a shepherd boy, sheep and wolves:
Once upon a time, there was a big field and many people live in here. The hero of the story――the shepherd boy was one of them and his work was graze sheep.
One day, the shepherd boy felt very bored, so he wanted to found some ideas to make himself happy. Very soon, he thought of an interesting idea――tell a lie to people. So he ran to the village quickly and shouted “Help! The wolves is coming!” at the farmers. All the farmers believed the boy’s words. Thus, they ran to the field quickly, but there wasn’t any wolf――the shepherd boy told a lie to them. All the farmers were angry and returned to village. But the boy felt very happy. As the boy lied again and again, people lost faith in him.
A few days later, there was a black wolf came to the field. So the boy ran to the village very fast and shouted for help. Although there really was a wolf in the glasses, the farmers weren’t believed him at all.
So the boy had to protect his sheep without any farmer’s help. In the end, the boy and all of his sheep died.
This story tells us: don’t lie to people and to be an honest person! This truth is worthy of our life, so remember it and do it!

I live with my parents and my grandmother. My grandmother is a kind elderly people. She likes talking and she always tells me stories of hers, my father’s and mine. She is full filled with memories. She told me that I was quiet and docile when I was little. My parents went to work all day, and my grandmother took care of me and my cousin. After she fed me, I sat and played myself. She didn’t have to worry much about me. I almost made no troubles.
But my cousin was not. He never sat well or ate his food tactfully. My grandmother had to always keep an eye on him to prevent making troubles. But, there was one thing drove her crazy. That was I didn’t like going to school. When I was at the school age, my parents sent me to school. But I cried every morning when I arrived at school. They had to comfort me for a long time to bring me into classroom. After two or three months later, the situation became good. I like my grandmother sharing the stories with me. It makes me warm and beloved.

With the development of China, I have encountered problems in English learning. English learning is an important thing for every Chinese, but learning English is not easy. First of all, there are many problems in learning English.
As we all know, oral English is the most difficult problem for me. Language is used for communication, as long as we are familiar with English exercise, but not communication, Learning English is useless for us. Second, listening is another problem.
English is our second language, even the third, fourth, and so on. Sometimes, we can't understand a word spoken by foreigners because we can't understand what they said at last. But equally important, I find it hard to remember these words, because Chinese is different from English.
It's really difficult for us to remember so many words. Although there are many problems in English learning, I believe that as long as I pay more attention, I can learn it well.

Recently divorced, I was in my 20s, had no job and was on my way downtown to go the rounds of the employment offices. I had no umbrella, for my old one had fallen apart, and I could not afford another one.
I sat down in the streetcar--and there against the seat was a beautiful silk umbrella with a silver handle inlaid with gold and necks of bright enamel. I had never seen anything so lovely.
I examined the handle and saw a name engraved among the golden scrolls. The usual procedure would have been to turn in the umbrella to the conductor, but on impulse I decided to take it with me and find the owner myself.
I got off the streetcar in a downpour and thankfully opened the umbrella to protect myself. Then I searched a telephone book for the name on the umbrella and found it. I called and a lady answered.
Yes, she said in surprise, that was her umbrella, which her parents, now dead, had given her for a birthday present. But, she added, it had been stolen from her locker at school (she was a teacher) more than a year before.
She was so excited that I forgot I was looking for a job and went directly to her small house. She took the umbrella, and her eyes filled with tears.
The teacher wanted to give me a reward, but--though twenty dollars was all I had in the world--her happiness at retrieving this special possession was such that to have accepted money would have spoiled something. We talked for a while, and I must have given her my address. I don‘t remember.
The next six months were wretched. I was able to obtain only temporary employment here and there, for a small salary. But I put aside twenty-five or fifty cents when I could afford it for my lithe girl‘s Christmas presents.
My last job ended the day before Christmas, my thirty-dollar rent was soon due, and 1 had fifteen dollars to my name--which Peggy and I would need for food.
She was home from convent boarding school and was excitedly looking forward to her gifs next day, which I had already Purchased. I had bough her a small tree, and we were going to decorate it that night.
